REGARDING YARD
WASTE PICKUP
As a result of the hard work of our Public Health
Trustee, Victor Viola, the Village of Jerome has
received a grant from the Sangamon County Solid Waste
Management Grant Program which will pay for 80% of
our yard waste and branch pickups. This is a limited
grant which will cover the branch pickup, as well
as
yard waste pickups for the spring and fall.
You will be pleased to know that our yard waste and
branches are taken to Evans Recycling where they are
recycled into mulch. This mulch is free to individuals
for use in their own yards and flower beds.
Branch pickup will continue through November 17th
on the previously scheduled dates; however, the last
yard waste pickup was Wednesday, May 14th. Yard waste
pickup will resume on Wednesday, September 24th.
During the period when the village does not pick
up yard waste
bags, residents must put their waste hauler stickers
on the bags so that they are removed weekly. If the
bags are not removed weekly, it becomes a health
and safety issue, which could subject you to fines
and
penalties.
