Jerome Library Open House

On Tuesday, July 24, the Jerome Library Advisory Committee and Volunteers held an open house at the Jerome Library. It was a very successful event with many of the Jerome residents touring the Library and enjoying cake and punch.

The Library Committee and Volunteers have done an excellent job putting the Library together, with rooms for adults and a terrific kids room. I encourage everyone to visit and make use of our Library.

Our Library hours are currently every Monday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Library Committee is working on expanding the hours to include time on Saturday. Watch for an announcement in a future Bulletin.

I personally want to thank all the volunteers who have put in countless hours to make our Library such a great success.

YARD WASTE PICK-UP RESUMES

Yard waste pick-up will resume Wednesday, March 14, 2007 and continue each Wednesday through May 16, 2007. In the fall, yard waste pick-up will resume on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 and continue each Wednesday through Wednesday, November 28, 2007, with the exception of Wednesday, November 21, 2007 when there will be no yard waste pick-up.

NO STICKERS ARE NEEDED

YARD WASTE IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP

Remember:

  1. Leaves are to be placed in paper yard bags or trash containers that are
marked "YARD WASTE." If trash cans are not marked they will not be
    emptied.

  2. Bags or cans are to be placed as close to the curb as possible, but not in the street. Bags that are lined up close to the house or in the yard but away from the street will not be picked up. Your assistance in placing these containers as close to the street as possible to help the pick-up run smoothly is appreciated.

  3. If residents have parking areas (gravel, asphalt, etc.) bags can be placed in
    that area for pick up.

  4. Bags should NOT be placed in gutters or other areas that will block storm
    water drainage.

  5. Gum balls cannot be put out for pick up, as the area where we dump the
yard waste will not take them. HOWEVER, you can put your gum balls in
with your regular garbage pick-up. The garbage companies will take the
    gum balls.

BRANCH PICK-UP RESUMES

Branch pick-up is scheduled for the following dates:

March 26
May 21
July 23
October 15

April 9
June 4
August 6
October 29

April 23
June 18
August 20
November 13

May 7
July 9

Limbs are to be put out the weekend before the date listed. Remember that branches are not logs or twigs. The Public Works Department will pick up brush and limbs that are of reasonable length to handle (8 ft. or less) and are at the edge of your property on Limb Pick-Up Day. All branches are to be placed at the end of your yard and not on the road. The Village does not pick up tree trunks, even if they are cut up. If they are put out at the curb they will be left behind. If your limbs are not out when we come by, you will have to wait until the next scheduled pick-up.

There will be NO charge for the limb pick-up, except for extra large accumulations from one residence that fill at least half a truck.
