Water Line Maintenance

During the week of June 20th, 2022 and the week of June 27th, 2022, the Jerome Public Works department will be exercising water main valves near your home or business. Proper distribution system maintenance ensures ease of repairs during an emergency situation. You may notice discoloration and possibly some sediment in your water. It is strongly recommended that you run a small amount of water in your bathtub to flush any sediment from your water system. There is no need to boil water or take any other action. Please see the attachments below for more information on flushing your home or business water system.
Only residents and businesses who are Village of Jerome Water customers will be affected. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this critical maintenance. Contact the Public Works Department directly with any concerns.

Sangamon County Natural Hazard Survey

We hope you will take a few minutes to complete the survey linked below for the 2022 Sangamon County Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. This is a multiple community effort with participants representing governmental entities, not-for-profit organizations, and other community groups. The survey requests your input regarding your experiences with natural hazards like floods, tornadoes, severe storms, and winter storms. This feedback will be used in the plan update and is helpful because it makes our communities and Sangamon County stronger. The survey works best in Chrome, Firefox, or Safari web browsers or by copying the link into Google. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Severe Storm Preparedness

As we enter Spring, it is a good time to revisit your preparedness for severe storms and tornadoes. Here are some tips to help you out:

  • Make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe storm warnings including cellular phone alerts, NOAA weather radio, TV, radio, and the Sangamon County Alert system.
  • Outdoor warning sirens are not meant for alerting inside your home.
  • Identify your safe place for storms.
  • Create an emergency preparedness kit with water, food, a first aid kit, batteries, flashlights, and a battery-powered radio

You can find more tips from IEMA and the NWS at https://www2.illinois.gov/iema/Preparedness/Documents/severeweatherpreparedness.pdf
