Village of Jerome Department of Public Safety

The Village’s Department of Public Safety primarily consists of the Jerome Police Department, located at 1610 Reed Avenue.

The Police Department has four full-time officers and operates under the guidance of the Public Safety Trustee. The department provides coverage for the entire village and is accessible for both emergency and non-emergency situations through the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Radio Communications Center.

  • Emergency Contact: Call 911 for any emergency.
  • Non-Emergency Contact: For non-emergencies, call the radio communications center at 217-753-6666.
  • Leave a Message for an Officer: Call 217-546-5954 to leave a recorded message for a police officer.

Additional Services
If you’re planning to be away for a day or longer, the Police Department offers home checks and extra patrols. To take advantage of this service:

  • Fill out a request form at the Village Office to register your home on the house checklist.
  • Police officers will check your home several times a day to ensure it is safe and secure while you’re away.
