Water Line Maintenance

During the week of June 20th, 2022 and the week of June 27th, 2022, the Jerome Public Works department will be exercising water main valves near your home or business. Proper distribution system maintenance ensures ease of repairs during an emergency situation. You may notice discoloration and possibly some sediment in your water. It is strongly recommended that you run a small amount of water in your bathtub to flush any sediment from your water system. There is no need to boil water or take any other action. Please see the attachments below for more information on flushing your home or business water system.
Only residents and businesses who are Village of Jerome Water customers will be affected. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this critical maintenance. Contact the Public Works Department directly with any concerns.

Hydrant Flushing

On the week of June 21st,2021, and the week of June 28th, 2021, the Jerome Public Works
department will be flushing fire hydrants near your home or business. The Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency requires that all fire hydrants be tested and flushed on a twice-yearly basis.
This allows us to flush any sediment from valves, hydrants, and water mains, allowing for clean
healthy water.
You may notice discoloration and possibly some sediment in your water. You may want to run
a small amount of water in your bathtub to get any sediment out of your water system. There is
no need to boil water or take any other measures. It is recommended to run water from an
outdoor spigot or a bathtub faucet to clear your system of any discoloration or sediment. Please
see this website for instructions on flushing your home or business water system.
Hydrants will be flushed in zones in relation to the loop of Jerome’s water system. Zones are as
follows: Week 1 includes Zones 1 through 5. Week 2 is Zones 6 through 8

  • Zone 1: North side of Wabash Ave.
  • Zone 2: South side of Wabash Ave.
  • Zone 3: Calland Dr., Jerome Ave., and intersections of Jerome Ave.
  • Zone 4: W. Grand Ct., Vernon Ave., and all intersections of Vernon Ave.

Water Meter Replacement and Road Work

Date: August 15, 2019
To: The Residents of the Village of Jerome
Re: Timeline for Installation of Smart Water Meters by Harvey Dye Plumbing

August 16, 2019 – Harvey Dye Plumbing brings equipment to Jerome and parks it off Reed Avenue by Jerome Park.

August 19, 2019 – Installation of Smart water meters begins. Please call the Village garage if you have questions 546-9647.

Most meter installations will only require the resident’s water to be off for a few minutes. If a longer time is needed for a particular meter the installation will be scheduled at a later date.

Installation is scheduled to run through September 6, 2019. This date may be extended due to weather or any unforeseen issues that would arise.

There is going to be a lot of activity in the Village of Jerome over the next few weeks. The reconstruction of West Grand Court and the installation of smart meters is going to make for some construction congestion in the Village. We appreciate your patience during this time. If any JULIE markings or flags are present on your property please do not disturb them. This makes everyone’s job a lot easier.

Any questions about installation procedures or why your property may have JULIE markings or Flags on it please call the Village garage at 546-9647.

Thank you,

David Wilken
Public Works Supervisor Village of Jerome
